Random Acts of Kindness

Pepsi-Max Family
Pepsi-Max Family

As I’ve been making my way slowly around the country I’ve been taken care of by complete strangers wherever I’ve gone. This morning as I got the turn for Broome a caravan pulled up in front of me. It was one of the families that I met before I got to Kununurra. As I pulled up they were all waiting for me with a can of ice cold Pepsi-Max. It’s almost like I’m a pro with a support team :)

They are pretty much on the same schedule as I am, planning to be home in Perth around New Years. I was hoping to make Perth for Christmas but that would require flat out riding to get there and I want to explore a bit. I doubt I’d even be able to ride everyday in this heat anyway.

But getting back on topic I’ve been amazed at the kindness of complete strangers that I’ve met along the way. From people inviting into their homes for a meal or a bed, a cold drink when I’m hot, hot water for tea when it was cold, sandwiches, fresh fruit, or offers of lifts there is always someone there willing to help me or do some random act of kindness.

It also seems like it is always when I’m really struggling or finding the journey toughest that someone does something to pick me up again. Even though I’m loving every minute of this trip, it not always easy or fun. I’m really grateful to everyone I’ve met along the way so far who has helped in any way. Hopefully it will continue until the end :)
