Goodbye to my support crew

Cape Naturaliste
Cape Naturaliste

I got to Dunsborough and checked into a hostel again. Am I getting soft or what, thats about 10 days out of the last 11 in beds instead of camping which would be cheaper but anyway. I was finally in the home town of my support crew of the past few weeks, The Pepsi-Max Family! They’ve been supplying me with a steady stream of cold drinks everytime we meet since just after Katherine and this should be the last time I see them on this trip.

We arranged for me to call over in the evening so I had a few hours to spare, unloaded my bike and went exploring Cape Naturaliste. The bike feels so different without the weight, very twitchy and unstable but gloriously fast. I was almost flying up the hills! There were some beautiful beaches and bays around the area as well as the lighthouse at the tip of the cape. I just missed the last tour for the day so I couldn’t get up to it but I did follow part of the Cape-to-Cape walking track.

Time was getting on so I rushed back to the hostel to get cleaned up. On my was down a hill back into town I was spinning a 53×11 doing just shy of 99km/h in the draft behind an SUV! That was so insanely fast probably very stupid too but so fast! I visited Fran and Leighs and stayed chatting until midnight. They gave me a fantastic idea how to close out the final leg of my trip in Sydney. Anyhow from here I’m on my own again, no more ice cold Pepsi Max to revive me on those blisteringly hot days.

So long and thanks for all the drinks!
