Northern Territories

The Northern Territories
Northern Territories!

Today I made it into the third region in the country, the Northern Territories. From here it is 260km to the next roadhouse and about 470km to the next town so plenty of water is needed. I’m now carrying 15 litres which adds significant weight to my pony but it can take it. I’m not drinking that much every day yet but better to have too much than too little.

I left Camooweal sometime after 8, a very late start after having tea with our new cyclist friends. I reckon that I should meet tham on the way to Darwin. Although I have a headstart and am moving a little faster I’m going to visit the Devils Marbles 115km south of Tennant Creek and probably take a day off too to recharge the batteries. It has been 12 days of non-stop cycling and although I’m not tired, my Japenese friend is starting to show signs of fatigue. A break will do us good.

I feel good, I’m cycling everyday up to 10 hours in the saddle, in extreme heat and I’m not feeling tired in the morning even after some tough days. I do believe that I’m getting fitter!
